ILHAM – KHOTAN HAND KNOTTED RUG

Antique 60 years old Hand-knotted Khotan Rug – ILHAM – A truly spectacular one-of-a-kind statement KHOTAN piece in colors like rusty tangerine base with hints of brown, grey and cream with pops of coral made from 100% pure soft hand spun wool.

Inspired by traditional 17th-century patterns of what is today Western China, the Khotan Collection features common motifs of pomegranates, cypress tress, and other geometricized botanical patterns. Their detailed yet linear-focused designs give them a modern, elegant appearance, bringing the rich history of these pieces to the modern home.

Craftsmen produce a compact pile by tightly beating down a thicker weft between rows of knots alongside a thinner weft. They weave the pile out of wool and craft the foundation with cotton, wool, or camel wool.

From the ornate borders and grand medallions to the absolutely beautiful repeating patterns, each rug from Khotan is a masterpiece on its own .
